Bookkeeper claims he stole from employer for child s operation

A bookkeeper who stole thousands of euro from the family-run business he worked at for over 20 years claimed he did so to save for his child s operation, a court has heard.
Derek Moore (48) colluded with three of his employer s customers to give them cheaper materials in exchange for cash payments, which he lodged into his own account instead of the company s, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard on Friday.
Moore, with an address at Huntstown Avenue, Blanchardstown, pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing just over €92,700 from his employer, Energy Saver Insulations Ltd, on dates between February and November 2018.

A machete-wielding man who took part in an animalistic attack on a family home that left two adults and their two children terrorised , has lost an appeal against his convictions.
Anthony McNamara (28) of Ard Mor Drive, Tallaght, Dublin was convicted by a Circuit Court jury last year of violent disorder, and criminal damage at Ardmore Park in Tallaght on October 9, 2018. He was also convicted of production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury after his trial heard that he wielded a machete during the violent episode.

A business graduate has received a fully suspended sentence for money-laundering after allowing his bank account to be used to handle over €21,000 stolen by scammers.
Jackson Sije (31) told gardaí he thought he was helping a fellow student to receive money from home for college and living expenses in Dublin in June 2019.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that the funds were, in fact, the proceeds of a “phishing scam” uncovered by staff at an Irish company.
Sije who is originally from Nigeria and has an address at Alderwood Green, Springfield, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to possession of the proceeds of criminal conduct at a location in Dublin on June 25, 2019.

Edward Maguire (45) of Cabra Park, Dublin 7 and Suzanne Maguire (37) of Sillogue, Ballymun, both pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to attempting to induce Axa Insurance to pay out on the foot of a false claim with the intention of making a gain for themselves or causing a loss to another on September 22nd 2017.

A Chinese national who lived under a false name for eight years after buying another person s birth certificate was “a model citizen in all but name”, a court has heard.
Wenzi Wang (38) first came to this country in 2002 on a student visa, but after his visa had expired he obtained a legitimate Northern Irish birth certificate belonging to another person and used it to obtain an Irish passport in the name Sau Kee Lee.
Wang went on to obtain a driving licence, a taxi licence, a Public Service Card and a mortgage all under this false name.
