Croatia marks connection of long-awaited Peljesac Bridge Xinhua 30 Jul 2021, 06:44 GMT+10 KOMARNA, Croatia, July 29 (Xinhua) The final piece of steel box girder for the Peljesac Bridge in southern Croatia was lifted and welded with the main structure on late Wednesday night. The 2.4-km cable-stayed bridge over the Mali Ston Bay of the Adriatic Sea connects Croatian mainland and the Peljesac Peninsula of its southernmost Dubrovnik-Neretva County, bypassing a short strip of Bosnian and Herzegovina s territory. The bridge, giving Croatia its long-awaited territorial continuity and traffic convenience, will be open to traffic next year when all access roads and relevant constructions are finished.

President Duterte Opens Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte inaugurated on Thursday, July 29, 2021 the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge, a modern bridge that will connect the cities of Mandaluyong and Makati within five (5) minutes. The President was joined by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, Senator Christopher Lawrence Bong Go, and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea in the symbolic unveiling of bridge marker at Rockwell, Makati City. The event was also attended by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez, MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos, DPWH Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, and Mandaluyong City Mayor Carmelita Abalos. Built at a cost of P1.46 Billion, the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge Project is one of the two (2) bridges funded by a grant of the People’s Republic of China the other one is Binondo-Intramuros Bridge in Manila expected to be finished at the end of the year.

Croacia inaugura el puente de Peljesac que permite conectar la ciudad de Dubrovnik, uno de los mayores centros turísticos del mar Adriático, con el resto del pais sin tener que pasar por el territorio de Bosnia-Herzegovina. La obra de 2.404 kilómetros ha sido construida por la empresa estatal china Road and Bridge Corporation, pero el 85% de su coste, de un total de 420 millones de euros, ha sido financiado por los Fondos de la Unión Europea. El puente atirantado, el mayor de Croacia, tiene 55 metros de altura, 13 arcos, entre ellos cinco principales de 285 metros, y seis pilares de 33 metros.
