HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) â Hollandâs summer farmers market Saturdays start today. The market is at the Civic Center Place, on Eighth Street, between Pine and Maple avenues.
This year the market has at least 15 new vendors, according the the marketâs master, Sara Cozolino.
The market features fresh produce, arts, crafts, plants, and prepared foods.
New state and federal guidelines for masks means they are recommended, but optional, for the outdoor market but must be worn by anyone going inside the Civic Center Place building to use restrooms, the ATM or need help using a Bridge Card or Pandemic EBT-Card at the market.
Shoppers attend Holland s first farmers market of 2021
HOLLAND With highs nearing 60 degrees, it was perfect weather for the annual launch of the Holland Farmers Market.
Dozens of shoppers enjoyed the market s season opening at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 12. Each year, the market brings together over 100 local farmers, specialty food vendors and food trucks with fresh vegetables, fruits, bread and baked goods.
Bridge Cards, Pandemic EBT Cards, Senior FRESH and WIC Project FRESH are accepted at the market, which also participates in Double Up Food Bucks allowing Bridge Card holders to double up their spending.
Shoppers can visit market staff in the front vestibule for details on using food assistance programs.
After picking up a punch card on their first visit to the market, Bridge Card users can get their card punched each time they visit the market and use a Bridge Card to shop.
The Holland Farmers Market accepts Bridge Cards and participates in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which allows Bridge Card users to receive matching tokens to spend on fresh food at the market.
Every five punches, Bridge Card users will win their pick of an assortment of gifts, including Higher Health tote bags, healthy recipe cookbooks and cooking utensils and supplies.
Children will also have the chance to get their very own Kids Produce Program dollars at the Higher Health table, outside the Civic Center, to spend at the market through the new Higher Health Kids Produce Program.
