One of two suspected phone thieves has been arrested and charged after being attacked by residents in Hanover last week.
Detectives assigned to the Hanover Division have arrested and charged 21-year-old Hugh Barret, otherwise called ‘Kurt’, of Green Island, Hanover with illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and robbery with aggravation.
Reports are that about 9pm in the Grange district of the parish on Sunday, January 10, Barrett and another man, armed with firearm, drove up on a motorcycle to a business establishment and robbed a male of his Samsung cellular phone valued at J$15,000.
It is further reported that the following day, Barrett and his accomplice were mobbed by citizens in the Rock Spring community. The accomplice reportedly escaped, but Barrett was handed over to the police and subsequently charged.
Texas fugitive arrested in Apple Valley on attempted murder charge

Authorities announced Tuesday that deputies in Apple Valley arrested 19-year-old Cody Dupnik, a fugitive in Texas, on suspicion of the attempted murder of a 23-year-old man.
Officials with the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at approximately 6:56 p.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to the 20000 block of Wisconsin Street regarding a stabbing.
Deputies at the scene found that the suspect, later identified as Dupnik, of Spring Branch, Texas, had stabbed an unidentified 23-year old man twice in the neck during an argument, the report said.
Dupnik and the victim are acquaintances and were at a residence near Deep Creek and Rock Spring roads when the attack took place, officials said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The mayor said that the town is grateful for Mr. Haven’s work during that time and appreciate his new role going forward.
