该案受害者是来自希腊伯罗奔尼撒半岛科林斯地区的26岁希腊女子加里法利亚，她日前与同样来自科林斯地区的30岁男友到福莱甘兹罗斯岛度假露营。事发在16日下午，警方接获渔民报警称，在一个海滩附近发现一具女性浮尸。海岸警卫队和警方到场，发现女死者身上有血迹，在海中有一个背包，海滩附近岩石区上还有一辆汽车。
