COVID prom: Fort Collins high schools host senior prom dances

Heidi Acott had been thinking about the dress she would wear to her senior prom since middle school.  When the Rocky Mountain High School senior arrived Saturday night in the dress she had designed and made with her grandmother accompanied by her matching mask  it likely was not the prom she had dreamt about. But she was excited nonetheless.  Acott had no hesitations about attending her senior prom despite it being hosted in a parking lot and her only being able to dance with the friends she signed up with  because it s a rite of passage. Her pod of three entered the parking lot excited to play games and dance the night away, even if they were limited to their assigned square.

In just a few hours, Fort Collins City Council gained a mayor and three other new council members, got a new mayor pro-tem and freed up Tuesday nights for four council members who’d amassed a cumulative 26 years at the dais. Mayor Jeni Arndt and new council members Tricia Canonico, Kelly Ohlson and Shirley Peel were sworn in Tuesday night at City Council’s first in-person meeting in months. Council member Susan Gutowsky was also sworn in for her second term. Shortly after, the new council unanimously named Emily Gorgol as mayor pro-tem. The mayor pro-tem attends weekly leadership meetings with the mayor and staff leaders and runs council meetings in the mayor’s absence.

Ex-NFL player Phillip Adams dropped phone outside SC home before killing six, search warrant shows

(Tribune News Service) Former NFL player Phillip Adams dropped his cellphone and a tin of chewing tobacco at the crime scene after killing six people April 7 near Rock Hill, South Carolina in April, according to search warrant information released Friday by the York County Sheriff s Office. Adams, 32, was found dead at his family s home on Marshall Road in York County hours after the mass shooting, according to the sheriff s office. Adams was also seen by a Rock Hill police officer s body camera footage fleeing the scene on an ATV that was found at his family s home down the street from the shooting site, the search warrants show.
