FARMINGTON, Ark. Farmington Schools were let out early Friday (April 30) due to a protest near the campus.
Parents of students from the school have told 5NEWS the protest is over a fight and racial incident that happened in a Farmington School s locker room on April 27.
The alert sent out to parents Friday said:
For the safety of our students we are going to dismiss school at 1:30 today. The district was made aware of a protest near campus and the safety of our students is our top priority. #Cardstudentsareworthit

It was distressing to hear that our local bank is closing in April. Many of us have banked there regularly for years. We wish all the best to the staff who have always been cheerful and welcoming to patrons.
Town Assessor visiting properties
The Town Clerk says the assessor will be around Farmington the next couple of weeks visiting properties so some residents may see someone walking around their property. He has a white Toyota Highlander, license plate 4386984, marked with Avitar Associates on the side. Please call 755-2789 if you have questions or concerns.
Farmington Schools switch to virtual learning due to COVID-19

FARMINGTON, Arkansas The Farmington School District announced all schools within the district will pivot to virtual learning Wednesday, Jan. 13.
Due to COVID-19 cases and quarantines, students will switch to virtual learning on Wednesday with the expectation of returning to onsite learning on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Currently, the district has positive COVID-19 cases in most schools and numerous students and staff quarantined.
The shortage of staff has directly impacted operations across the district.
