Speaking with Observer media just hours before the hosting of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association’s (ABFA) ordinary congress on Monday, Joseph hoped that the matter would be raised at the meeting and a solution reached. “We are waiting until after tonight’s [December 21] AGM to see if they will raise it. This is the opinion of former national coach, Rowan Benjamin, who believes this could be the best possible option given what he said will be the country’s late start to preparations in January as suggested by the association’s head, Everton Gonsalves, earlier this week. “I think that we’re too late. I believe that the way we may have to look at it is that they may have to go for a local coach and work with local players for now. If it is possible to get players out of England, then very good, but I know there is going to be some difficulty with that happening, but at the moment right now, a coach that is really worth his salt wouldn’t take up players who haven’t been pl

Benjamin Reveals Intention To Contest ABFA Executive Position Spread the love Well-known former national football coach Rowan “Porridge” Benjamin has revealed that he will be a candidate in the next electoral congress for the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA) due mid next year. Benjamin, who is coach of the 2018/19 Premier Division champions, the Liberta Blackhawks, made the disclosure while speaking on the Good Morning Jojo Sports Show, but did not disclose which position he intends to contest. “I believe at this stage that I would really like to get into the administration of the game because I’ve seen too much and if it continues going the same way, then all the coaches will suffer. They are setting up coaches in Antigua to fail … at the national level, and it has to change and the current status quo wouldn’t do anything about it,” he said.

ABFA head: Jarvis was a dedicated soldier who will be missed President of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA), Everton Gonsalves, said the sport has lost a genuine lover of the game and someone who was always willing to go the extra mile whenever called to serve in whatever capacity necessary to get the job done. The former national and Villa Lions striker was, as the time, paying tribute to a former member of the fraternity and someone who would have worked within the offices of the association, Rhea Jarvis, who passed away on Sunday, just days after she reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
