The Barbados Meteorological Service (BMS) said a strong area of low pressure in the Northern Atlantic has caused a deterioration of sea conditions across Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Residents and visitors should expect swells ranging from 2.5-3.5 metres ( 8 feet to 11 feet) to continue today and into the night. The BMS has advised beachgoers to stay out of the water during the warning period as sea conditions could be life-threatening. All marine craft operators should note that large open water swells may be hazardous to some vessels and the operation of smaller vessels may be difficult at times.
