On Tuesday morning, Barnstable Police were alerted to the possibility of a man in possession of an explosive device at a home on Baxter Road in Hyannis.
Police located the device in question in a bedroom at the residence and cleared the area as they sought a search warrant.
Hyannis Fire and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office secured the device and it was detonated by State Police Bomb techs.
Police arrested 40 year old Dorian Firth, he is now facing felony charges.
No injuries were reported.

Explosives found in a group home on Cape Cod early Tuesday led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man and the detonation of the device by the Massachusetts State Police Bomb squad, according to authorities.
Officers from the midnight shift of the Barnstable Police Department responded to 119 Baxter Road in Hyannis for a report of a resident who had an explosive device at the seven-bedroom home, the department said in a Facebook post.
