You pastors and church leaders have been through so much. While others have likewise had severe challenges, pastors have truly had one challenge after another.
You lead an organization that is designed to meet and gather. You lead a church that by its very nature seemed shackled by the pandemic. You had to lead both a virtual church and deal with real in-person needs. Many of you had never preached to a camera before COVID.

The pastoral skills and mental health of clergy were pushed to the limits in 2020, and nothing much has changed in the first few weeks of 2021, according to a report from Baptist News Global.
Research shows that leading congregations through the traumatic events such as the COVID-19 pandemic was more than many ministers could take.
Barna Research found pastors often had to become tech experts, diplomats, and expert fundraisers while doubling down on pastoral ministry to counsel distressed people.
One survey conducted with the American Bible Society found that 73 per cent of Protestant pastors said they were only “somewhat” equipped in helping others deal with significant crisis.

Disruptions of the Mass by COVID
For some time now the obligatory Sunday Mass had been suspended because of COVID-19. Christians have been under some restrictions. First services were totally disallowed. Then, while those in Colombo were allowed services with 25 communicants, in Jaffna the PHIs restricted it to 5. Then two Sundays ago, at St. James’ Nallur, the Vicar, The Rev. Fr. Stephen Jebachelvan, said “Come what may, we will start with 5 communicants.” Hearing about it, last Sunday (6
th) he had to hold two services. Next Sunday (13
th) it is expected to be more to cater to the demand ignored by the Church.
