2,900 security personnel perform duties on Eid

Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police finalized a comprehensive security and patrolling plan on the eve of Eidul Fitr besides augmenting the security at public places, worship places and other important buildings to thwart any untoward incident.
The security plan was finalised by Additional SP Farhat Abbass Kazmi following directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman and DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar. More than 2,900 security personnel including four SPs, 12 ASPs/DSPs and volunteers performed security duties and SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer supervised all arrangements.
DIG (Operations) directed to ensure strict security measures outside all mosques, imambargahs, exit and entry points of the city. Islamabad police ensured fool proof security arrangements on the occasion and police commandos were deployed for patrolling in the city.
36 beggars, 14 handlers arrested

Islamabad : Islamabad Police have launched special crackdown against professional alm seekers and their handlers with the purpose to curb this menace and nabbed 36 beggars and 14 handlers on Friday.
Additional SP Farhat Abbass Kazmi said that special teams have been constituted to ensure arrest of beggars’ handlers while legal process is being ensured to register FIRs against the professional alm-seekers.
He said Industrial area police got the tips through sources about presence of network of beggars’ handlers in the area.
Following this information, Industrial area police launched crackdown and succeeded to nab 36 beggars and 14 handlers.
The nabbed persons had divided sectors, signals and main chowks for begging activities.
Police Service Center inaugurated in sector G-14

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ur Rehman on Monday inaugurated the police service center at sector G-14 equipped with modern technology.|
The inaugural ceremony was attended among others by DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kausar, SSP (Operations) Dr. Syed Mustafa Tanveer, Addition SP Islamabad Farhat Abbass Kazmi, SP (Saddar) Hamza Humayun and other police officials as well as notables of the area.
Around 1,18,000 citizens have been provided various services through Islamabad Police Service Center in sector F-6 so far while more than 2000 citizens have benefitted by Mobile Facilitation Centre.

Special committee settles complaints

Islamabad: A special committee of Islamabad police constituted following orders of the apex court to review complaints related to sections 22-A/B, effectively disposed of matters forwarded to it.
It is to mention that a special committee was constituted under the supervision of DIG (Operations) to look into the cases received at police stations under sections 22-A/B. Additional SP Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi is its Chairman while Zonal SPs and DSP (Legal) are among its members. The committee meets twice a week to listen to the complaints of people and its 21 meetings were held this year.
