The Seeing Sound project saw 17 people with aphasia, a language impairment caused by damage to the brain s left side, take part in five Zoom sessions between November 2020 and February 2021. Participants from the Free Space Project based at Kentish Town Health Centre, and The Brain Charity in Liverpool were sent materials through the post and created dozens of artworks as they visualised sounds from the British Library’s Unlocking Our Sound Heritage project, included chaffinches and tawny owls, woodland streams and the babble of seaside piers.

Two men charged after vicious street fight involving knives caught on camera Two men have been charged following a vicious street fight in which weapons, thought to be huge knives, were used. On Sunday police urged people to stop sharing footage of the fight which had been widely circulated on several social media platforms throughout the afternoon. The incident took place in Bartholomew Road in Morecambe at around 3.15pm on Sunday, and shortly after two men aged 31 and 26, and both from the town, were arrested on suspicion of assault. One of them was apprehended in the immediate area not long after police arrived, and one in Preston later that day.

NEW traffic calming measures have been described as a ‘nightmare’ for some businesses. Low Traffic Neighbourhoods were introduced in Church Cowley, Temple Cowley, and Florence Park, Oxford, as part of a six-month trial by Oxfordshire County Council to calm traffic and reduce pollution. While some businesses have been reaping the benefits of the scheme, others feel more hard done by.
