The reconstruction of a dangerous intersection at Redwing moved closer to completion after action by the Barton County Commission Monday morning. Approved was a bid from L&M Construction of Great Bend of $294,531.90 for the improvement project east of Hoisington.
Bids were opened last week for the work. Of the three bids, the lowest was submitted by L & M, said County Engineer Barry McManaman.

The Great Bend City Council Monday night approved providing a portion of the local matching funds not to exceed $220,000 for a joint Kansas Department of Transportation cost-share project with Barton County. This covers the portion of SW 40 Avenue known as Airport Road.

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend.
