Maryland-National Capital Park Police said they are investigating a report that a girl was sexually assaulted at an access point to the Rock Creek Trail in Kensington on Tuesday evening.
Police said in a press release that around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, a male approached the girl from behind on the trail, wrestled her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
Police said someone exercising nearby heard the girl scream and went over to see what was happening, which caused the attacker to run away.
The attacker was described as Hispanic, with a medium complexion, about 5’4″ to 5’6″ and skinny, possibly in his late teens or early 20s, with a round face and dark hair. He was wearing dark clothing and no mask.

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and parents of children with complex medical conditions are now also able to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Georgia under new guidelines issued last week.
“We’re really excited. We were kind of hoping to get the news a little sooner,” Glynn Academy Principal Matthew Blackstone said.
