ATLANTA (AP) Regents who oversee Georgia’s 26 public universities and colleges are restarting the search for a chancellor, saying they are still trying to find a permanent replacement for outgoing leader Steve Wrigley before he retires June 30.
Regents voted Tuesday after a nearly three-hour-long executive session to hire a new search firm after the previous search firm quit. The resolution by regent Neal Pruitt Jr. said the firm will consider current applicants and recruit new ones. If no permanent replacement is chosen by June 30, regents voted to appoint an interim leader for the 340,000-student system.
Parker Executive Search Assists LSU Recruit First African-American President
May 10, 2021 – Atlanta-based Parker Executive Search has assisted Louisiana State University (LSU) in the selection of William Tate as the school’s first African-American president. He will replace Tom Galligan, who has served as LSU president since January 2020. “This is a very pivotal time at our university, from economic, environmental, social challenges, but we are doing great things at this place,” said LSU board chair Robert Dampf. “From our academic achievements, our enrollment, our diversity, I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished. We set about to find a great leader, and we found one.”
Dardenne says heâs not upset at being passed over for LSU presidentâs job
Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says he is not bitter that the LSU Presidential Search Committee did not name him to the short list of finalists for the universityâs top job.
âThe decision does nothing to dampen my love and support of LSU,â Dardenne says. âIâm an LSU person through and through.â
Dardenne, who received his undergraduate and law degrees from LSU, was one of eight semifinalists to interview for the position earlier this week but, to the surprise of many, was not among the three finalists announced late Wednesday.
