The virtual symposium is presented by its founders UMass Lowell and the Deshpande Foundation along with the Burton D. Morgan Foundation. The event â which is typically held in person each June â will be conducted virtually for the second time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.Â

Akron s I-Corps prepares entrepreneurs to fill a market need Elyse Ball leads a pre-pandemic class at an I-Corps session in Akron. Akron continues to get support for its startups from a federal program many people have probably never heard of: the National Science Foundation s Innovation Corps program, better known to participants as simply I-Corps. It s been a sort of boot camp for entrepreneurs affiliated with the University of Akron and Kent State University for nearly eight years. We re able to accommodate about 25 companies per cohort, and we run three cohorts a year, said local I-Corps instructor Elyse Ball, who is also assistant counsel and project manager at the University of Akron Research Foundation (UARF), which coordinates I-Corps in the region.

Chocolate and candy manufacturing trade organization The National Confectioners Association (NCA) announced Wednesday that Paul Chibe, president and chief executive officer of Ferrero North America, was named as chairman of its Board of Trustees. The role’s two-year term commences immediately. “The future of the confectionery industry remains bright, and it is important to have a strong and thoughtful leader like Paul as Chair of the NCA Board for the next chapter of our journey,” John Downs, NCA president and CEO, said in a release. “I am grateful for Paul s engagement, energy and commitment and I look forward to working with him and the full NCA Board to continue to execute our strategic plan ‘Thrive in 2025.’”
