Alex Murphy s Wire team filled the trophy cabinet in the 1973/74 season, and the action above is from the first half of the final league game of the campaign in the build-up to the first Challenge Cup Final triumph for 19 years and the Club Championship success. On April 15, 1974, The Wire defeated Leigh 27-16 at Wilderspool Stadium in what was their 10th match in 30 days - the congestion resulting from their outstanding cup runs. Legendary stand-off Murphy picked himself for the first time in four months, and the wily old fox can be seen in the footage a week before his 35th birthday pulling all the tricks from up his sleeve as orchestrator-in-chief against his former club.
He was in the spotlight for more than 40 years, a legend of Scottish stage and screen. Andy Gray, hailed as an exceptional actor and entertainer, has died at the age of 61 - leaving the Scottish entertainment industry devastated. The Perth-born performer had previously been diagnosed with blood cancer in 2018, but returned to the stage to appear in the King s panto the following year. National treasure Gray, well known for his role as Chancer in the 1980s comedy City Lights, also starred in Naked Video, River City and was a beloved regular at the Edinburgh Festival - not to mention inimitable sidekick at the King s annual pantomime.

Although he has a trophy room of about 100 mounts that feature everything from mule deer and whitetails to bruiser bull elk, one of the newest additions to Scott Chesterâs collection will be an animal he never hunted.
Montana Wildlife Artistry taxidermy, operated by father and son Mitch and Jim Howe, are preparing a life-sized mount of a bighorn ram for Chester. The base of the ram s horns measured more than 16 inches and stretched out to 44 inches. It would have scored close to 206 inches under the Boone and Crockett scoring system â a trophy-class animal â if it werenât for one large flaw. The ram has a baseball-sized gap burned into the back of the right horn.
Duncanville City Council recently announced Aretha R. Ferrell-Benavides as their new City Manager, with a start date of Feb. 22, 2021. Ferrell-Benavides is no stranger to the Best Southwest area, having previously served two years as City Manager for the City of Glenn Heights. Since July 2017, she has served as City Manager for Petersburg, VA., and is credited with helping pull that city back from financial collapse. After a $7.7 million deficit in 2016, city officials announced an $8 million fund balance by 2018, their largest in over a decade.
