For the seventh time in his political career, Mayor Rick Chrest delivered a talk to members of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce for the annual state of the city address via Zoom on Thursday afternoon.

It was the second straight year Chrest has done a virtual address due to COVID-19.
He used his time to announce some new initiatives for the City of Brandon and talk about the ongoing fight against the virus.

I think businesses have done a tremendous job of monitoring this, and the very large majority of the population has made an effort to wear masks and protect people in the store, he said, adding he hasn’t noticed many mask-less faces.

The Agricultural Carbon Alliance (ACA) was formed March 1 to engage the federal government on carbon pricing and advocate for practical options regarding offsets, rebates, and exemptions. Its 14 organizations account for more than 190,000 farm businesses, and together they steward some 62 million hectares, which is over 7 percent of Canada’s land mass.
