Every dog has its day and an upcoming event is giving every dog a chance to showcase their smile and skills.
The annual dog-friendly Fido Fest event will be held virtually this year, according to James City County Parks and Recreation.
The free event is presented by the Peninsula Animal Referral Center and is hosted by the county and Heritage Humane Society. The Pet Resort at Greensprings, the James City Veterinary Clinic and Muddy Marley’s Dog Wash are the event sponsors.
Dog owners can enter their furry friends into several contests with prizes up for grabs.
Marvin H. Francis
WILLIAMSBURG Marvin H. Francis, 87, peacefully passed away in his sleep Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, following complications from a stroke. He was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Plentywood, Montana, to the late Maylon and Vera Francis.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Once he completed basic training, he was sent to Paris, France to help guard the Embassy. Thus began his love of travel and his dedication to a life of service to his country. In fact, Marv credited the Marine Corps for making him the man of hard work and integrity, which were the guiding forces in his life.
Michael John Strosnider
WILLIAMSBURG On December 29, 2020, my beloved husband, Michael John Strosnider, 63, passed away after a Viking’s fight with multiple cancers.
He leaves behind his heartbroken wife, Nola Strosnider; and will be greatly missed by his son, Michael; and daughter, Koula (Vincent). Also deeply affected by this loss are his brothers, Richard (Tanya) and Jimmy; sisters, Sharon (Bill), Patty (C.J.), Cindy (Chuck) and Leta (Rich); and many grandchildren. Mike also leaves behind a very large family and many, many friends.
Although, we had known each other for 50 years, the Lord only allowed us 6½ beautiful years together.
Godspeed, Mike. You were the love of my life!
