Renee Zellweger is set to star in The Thing About Pam, a true crime miniseries that will span six episodes on NBC, marking the screen star s first foray on broadcast TV.
The miniseries starring the Bridget Jones s Diary star, 51, will be adapted from a Dateline probe and a 2019 podcast of the same title, Deadline reported.
It centers around the 2011 murder of a Missouri woman Betsy Faria that her husband was initially convicted for, but it was later overturned and the case eventually focused on Faria s coworker Pam Hupp, who the Academy Award-winning Judy actress will play.

The Thing About Pam, a six-episode true-crime drama series inspired by a real-life story, the network announced Thursday. This marks Zellweger s broadcast TV debut project and has received a straight-to-series pickup.
It s based on the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria that resulted in her husband Russ’ conviction. He maintained that he did not kill her and his conviction was later overturned. The crime set off a chain of events that exposed a scheme involving Pam Hupp, who Zellweger will portray in the series.

Feb. 4 (UPI) Oscar-winning actress Renee Zellweger has signed on to star in and executive produce NBC s six-episode series,
The Thing About Pam.
Zellweger, 51, is known for her roles in Judy, Chicago, Cold Mountain, Nurse Betty, Bridget Jones s Diary and Jerry Maguire.
House of Lies and
The Thing About Pam and serve as showrunner.
The series is a collaboration from Blumhouse Television, NBC News Studios and Zellweger s Big Picture Co. production company.
Based on the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, this true-crime drama has House of Lies writer Jessika Borsiczky handling its adaptation into a limited series for NBC.
