MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) â Marshfield will be without a mayor for a year.
Marshfield aldermen will let city residents choose the next Mayor, and they wonât do so for another 342 days. The Common Council voted 10-0 last night in favor of leaving the office vacant until the cityâs next regular general election April 5th of next year.
The Councilâs decision comes 36 days after an 8-to-2 vote March 22nd to remove Bob McManus from the Mayorâs position over misconduct allegations.
Aldermen chose to wait, over two other recommendations from City Administrator Steve Barg to appoint someone or hold a special election. Assuming a primary election would be needed, City Clerk Deb Hall said the earliest that could happen would be June 15th, followed by a general election July 13th. And she said it would come with a price tag somewhere close to $20,000.

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) â The city of Marshfield is still without a Mayor and a Chief of Police, but City Administrator Steve Barg isnât in panic mode just yet.
âCheif Rick Gramza left on an early termination agreement before there were some hearings regarding some concerns about his employment. The mayor was removed by a vote of the council a couple of weeks later,â said Gramza, summing up the events that led to both positions being vacated. âThose things are still issues we are continuing to work through.â
In addition to what to do about those vacancies, there are also complaints against two members of the cityâs Fire and Police Commission and a request for an investigation into several members of the City Council. âWeâre still, weâre still rocky here in terms of getting through these issues and getting to the end of the tunnel.â
MARSHFIELD - Over 100 residents are asking the city to remove two Fire and Police Commission members involved in events that led to the removal of Mayor Bob McManus and for police to investigate them for misconduct.
City Administrator Steve Barg confirmed he received the 152-page complaint at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Marshfield resident Marisa Steinbach. Steinbach was unavailable Monday and Tuesday for an interview.
The complaint alleges both Andy Keogh and Randy Gershman violated several Wisconsin statutes and outlines both shared and individual infractions. The complaint says both Keogh and Gershman:
Failed to adhere to open meeting laws.
Failed to maintain proper electronic communication while in their elected positions.

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WDLB) The Marshfield Common Council has a new leader, and thus, a new person filling the duties of the Mayor’s office.
After two consecutive 5-to-5 tie votes by the city’s 10 aldermen last night, a coin flip put District Two representative Nick Poeschel in the role of Common Council President, replacing District Six Alderman Tom Witzel.
And since the Council voted to remove Bob McManus from the Mayor’s office on March 22nd, the Council President has been–and will continue–fulfilling the baseline duties of that office, like signing official city documents and presiding over Council meetings. The future of the Mayor’s office will be up for discussion next Tuesday, April 27th, after the Council last week decided to wait until new Alderman Brian Varsho took his seat in District Four.
