Every seat in the town is up for grabs as voters go to the polls. Warrington Borough Council is composed of 58 councillors, with Labour holding control going into the elections. The party is defending its 43 seats on the council, while the Liberal Democrats have 11, three independents and one Tory. Each of the parties have set out why residents should vote for them. The proposed development site COUNCILLORS have rejected plans to build six new apartments following concerns over the size of the proposed development. Emerald Bay Construction’s application for the new-build scheme came before the council’s development management committee during its virtual meeting on Wednesday. The site is situated to the south of 137 Kingsway North, a residential property, and is located in the Fairfield and Howley ward. The application sought permission to build the properties, as well as associated landscaping and parking arrangements. The proposals would have been designed to reflect the style of a detached 1930s style property, with a long ridge line and a hipped side element.

Lee Beddows AN independent candidate aiming to win a seat on Penketh Parish Council is ready to get his ‘hands dirty’ and deliver change for residents. Driving instructor Lee Beddows, aged 33, is bidding for success at the ballot box in the elections next Thursday. The parish council has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons a number of times over the past year – but Lee is hoping to deliver change. The dad-of-one said: “I moved to Penketh in 2016 when my daughter was born and obviously I’ve just got more and more involved in the local area.
