Plans for a ninth edition of the much-loved and anticipated annual autumn festival, due to take place from October 20-24 were announced today. Festival organisers say they are excited and looking forward to further easing of restrictions in the summer and autumn months.

Adrienne Girvan, who sings second alto, has been a teacher of business studies and economics, a University of Glasgow administrator, and a legal secretary in her working life. Music has been part of that life since school, and she took a Diploma in Music at the Open University. She is a long-time Dr Who fan and joined Bearsden Choir four years ago. How did you begin singing, and become involved in Bearsden Choir? “At school we rehearsed a very varied repertoire to a very high standard, and I also learned to play piano and flute. Choral music has been a major part of my post-school life as a member of Strathclyde and Glasgow University Choral Societies. ‘Come and Sing’ charity events conducted by Christopher Bell, Bob Chilcott and John Rutter have all been enjoyable learning experiences.

World premiere to celebrate 50th anniversary of North Wales Music Festival

A TOP music festival will mark its 50th year with the world premiere of a new work to celebrate its illustrious history. The piece written by Jon Guy will be featured in one of two concerts in May which will be curtain raisers for the North Wales International Music Festival which in normal times is held at St Asaph Cathedral. Like the main event last September, the concerts will be staged online – with the premiere of the music called Shining Dawn happening at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 8. At the same time the day before, the globally-renowned choir Tenebrae will be delighting the festival audience.
