I look forward to this with gusto and enthusiasm, Nelson said. Bill Nelson grew up in Brevard County and went to Melbourne High School. He represented Brevard County in the state legislature and in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a former astronaut, he flew in a space shuttle in 1986, while as a lawmaker, Nelson was instrumental in the passage of space-related legislation.
