BOBBY Unser, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and part of the only pair of brothers to win “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” has died at 87.
He died on Sunday at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico of natural causes, Indianapolis Motor Speedway confirmed on Monday.

Unser won the Indy 500 in 1968, 1975 and 1981.
His younger brother, Al, is one of only three four-time Indy 500 winners in race history. Al Unser won the race in 1970, 1971, 1978 and 1987.
The Unser family tradition stretched to Al Unser’s son, Al Unser Jr., who won the Indy 500 in 1992 and 1994.

Bobby Unser, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and part of the only pair of brothers to win The Greatest Spectacle in Racing has died, his wife, Lisa, confirmed to CBS News. He was 87.
The Associated Press reported he died Sunday at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, of natural causes, citing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Unser won the Indy 500 in 1968, 1975 and 1981.

Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Unser died Sunday at his home in New Mexico at age 87.
Officials at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he won The Greatest Spectacle in Racing in 1968, 1975 and 1981, announced his death on Monday.
Unser was part of the first family of the Indianapolis 500. His brother, Al, won the race four times, making them the only set of brothers to drink the post-race milk reserved for the winner. In all, six members of the Unser family have driven in the Indy 500, with Al Unser Jr. continuing the family legacy with two wins.

Bobby Unser was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, but moved with his family as a child to New Mexico. His father owned a garage along Route 66 so he and his brother grew up tooling around in old jalopies before he began his racing career in 1949 at Roswell New Mexico Speedway.

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico Bobby Unser, winner of the 1968, 1975 and 1981 Indianapolis 500s, passed away Sunday at the age of 87 at his New Mexico home.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced his death in a news release Monday.
Unser is one of 10 drivers to win the prestigious Indy 500 at least three times and was the first driver to win the race in three different decades, a feat later matched by Rick Mears.
Bobby was a member of the legendary Unser family of racecar drivers. His older brother, Jerry Unser, died at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a crash during practice ahead of the 1959 Indy 500. His younger brother, Al Unser, is a four-time winner of the Indy 500, and his nephew Al Unser, Jr, won the race twice. In total, six members of the Unser family have raced in the Indianapolis 500.
