Phil Houseley, one of the two brothers who organised Town fans’ travels in Europe over nine years, reflects on the UEFA Cup-winning season and the organisation that went into the away trips.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Town’s glorious UEFA Cup final victory over AZ Alkmaar in Amsterdam. To mark the occasion the club’s former public relations officer, Mel Henderson, speaks to club legend John Wark about the European success that rounded off what is considered to be the greatest season in the club’s history.
It was 40 years ago today that our club, Ipswich Town, joined football’s European elite by winning the UEFA Cup, a feat that will never be repeated.

Bobby Ferguson, the co-conspirator of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, followed his buddy out of federal prison Thursday when Judge Nancy Edmunds released him 13 years early.
Ferguson was serving 21 years for participating in a criminal enterprise to defraud the taxpayers of Detroit. After former President Donald Trump pardoned Kilpatrick, Edmunds must have figured it unfair to keep his stooge locked up.
So both men are now free.
But the $83 million the feds say they stole is still unaccounted for. Is the money in a hiding place where Kilpatrick and Ferguson can access it to resume their once lavish lifestyles?
Cook: Games Are Never Meaningless For Players

Town travel to Shrewsbury on Tuesday night for their final away game of the season with manager Paul Cook insisting it’s not a meaningless fixture, despite both teams season being over from a competitive perspective
The 10-placed Blues’ play-off push fell away during April, while the Shrews, who are 17th, are no longer in danger of dropping into League Two.
