JALANDHAR: Gurwinder Singh, former sarpanch of Sheetalpur village near Jalandhar, said that after levelling his fields and removing any traces of weed, he is experimenting with sowing by just throwing the seeds ( Chhitta) as is done with wheat. “I have already done this on three acres and would do it on two acres more. On the remaining 25 acres, I shall do seeding on beds,” he said.
Prominent Sikh religious leader Baba Sarabjot Singh Bedi has also taken up Anaerobic Sowing of Rice (ASR), which is also called Phagwara technique, for his fields in Khiala Bulanda village, Hoshiarpur district.
