ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s captain for all three formats Babar Azam Thursday hoped to carry forward the momentum into the fourth T20I amid similar Centurion conditions which, he said, were good enough to bring out the best from the top-order.
In a virtual talk following an empathic display of exciting cricket that saw Pakistan racing to nine-wicket win in the third T20I, Babar said he wanted his charges to carry forward the same momentum going into the fourth and final T20 today (Friday).
“The series outcome depends on the fourth T20’s result. We are looking forward to continue with the same tempo which we have shown in the third T20. Hopefully, you would see the best from Pakistan players in the final game against South Africa.”

KARACHI: Pakistan captain Babar Azam dethroned Indian maestro Virat Kohli after more than three years as the world’s number one batsman in one-day international rankings, the International Cricket Council announced Wednesday.
The 26-year-old becomes the fourth Pakistani batsmen to get the top spot in ODIs and the first since Mohammad Yousuf in 2003.
“Pakistan captain Azam has ended Kohli’s long reign at the top of the ICC Men’s ODI player rankings,” the ICC said in a statement from its Dubai headquarters.
Azam knocked 103, 32 and 94 in a three-match series in South Africa which Pakistan won 2-1 last week.

CENTURION, South Africa: Babar Azam gave a batting master-class to lead Pakistan to a nine-wicket win in the third Twenty20 International against South Africa at SuperSport Park here on Wednesday.
Babar hit 122, his first T20 International century, and shared a record Pakistan first wicket partnership of 197 with Mohammad Rizwan (73 not out) as Pakistan chased down a challenging target of 204 with two overs to spare.
Virtually the only flaw in a dazzling batting display by the Pakistan captain was when he was dismissed with only seven runs needed, nudging an attempted ramp shot off Lizaad Williams to South African wicketkeeper and captain Heinrich Klaasen. Rizwan embraced his captain as he started on his way back to the dressing room while several South African players ran to congratulate him after an innings of almost flawless timing and placement.
