“Neighbors” often is privileged to hear about and report on men and women from the area who have served in the military. Today, here’s one more.

Evan Moe, of Kindred, N.D., who, after seeing another story about veterans, passes along information about himself.
“I was a 1954 graduate of Concordia College with majors in physics and math. Then I went into the Navy,” Evan writes.
“For a period of time, I was a lieutenant junior grade, with some of my duties being those of a first lieutenant.
According to Friday s report, 132 of the new cases are confirmed and 28 are probable.
State data shows 232 more residents have recovered from the virus, bringing the state s total recoveries to 103,127. State health officials say there are 3,060 active cases in the state, a decrease of 77 since yesterday.
The state s health department has reported five additional virus-related deaths, bringing the state s death toll to 1,768.
Currently, 152 residents in the state are hospitalized due to the virus, which is down from 161 reported on Thursday. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 6,272 COVID-19 hospitalizations in South Dakota.
Health department data shows 42,913 Pfizer vaccines and 49,983 Moderna vaccines have been administered throughout the state. A total of 26,448 people have completed their vaccine series.
South Dakota added two dozen COVID-19 related-deaths and 187 new cases on Thursday, according to the Department of Health.
There are now 1,763 total deaths in the state since the start of the pandemic, the state reported. Men with COVID-19 have had a higher mortality rate than women in South Dakota. As of Thursday, 99 more men than women died of the disease, although, men only accounted for 47.8% of total cases of coronavirus in the state since the start of the pandemic.
Of Thursday’s new deaths, seven were women and 17 were men. The age ranges of 30-39, 40-49, and 50-59 each had one death each. There were three deaths in the 60-69 age range and nine in the 70-79 age range. Nine people over the age of 80 died with COVID-19, according to the state.
