Polling was held for over hundred civic bodies in Punjab on Sunday amid stray incidents of skirmishes at some places.
According to officials, seven people were injured in Rupnagar after workers of the ruling Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal clashed following a heated argument in Ward No.1 there.
Skirmishes and scuffles between activists of the Congress and the Opposition parties were also reported from Batala, Rajpura, Tarn Taran, Bathinda, Gurdaspur, Samana, Rupnagar, Nabha, Nangal, Mohali and Ferozepur.

Chandigarh, Jan 31 : The Punjab Police s Organised Crime Control Unit on Sunday busted a gambling racket active in Mohali district with arrest of 70 people, including 10 women, from a marriage palace.
The police seized Rs 8.42 lakh cash, 47 vehicles, 40 liquor bottles, playing cards and laptops from the spot.
Backgrounds of all people involved in the gambling and immoral trafficking is being investigated, said Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta.
Forensic examination of the seized laptops and mobile phones is also being conducted to reveal further details, he said.

CHANDIGARH : The Punjab Police Sunday claimed to have busted an alleged gambling and immoral trafficking racket active in the Mohali district after arresting 70 people, including 10 women, during a late night operation at a city marriage palace, officials said.
The Organised Crime Control Unit of Punjab Police also impounded 47 vehicles, besides seizing Rs 8.42 lakh in cash, 40 liquor bottles, playing cards and laptops during their operation that followed a tip-off, DGP Dinkar Gupta said.
“The backgrounds of all the persons involved in the gambling and immoral trafficking are being investigated,” said the DGP.
