On 22 December, farmers associated with various farmersâ organisations in Maharashtra gathered outside the office of Milind Borikar, the district collector of Mumbai Suburban, in the cityâs Bandra East area. The farmers were protesting against the three recently enacted farm laws. From there, they marched on to the nearby Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Udyan, a public garden. Thane: The Thane municipal corporation controlled by Shiv Sena rejected a proposal to accept compensation from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, in charge of the bullet train project, for the transfer of nearly 2000 hectare land, effectively rejecting the transfer of the land.

The state government shifted the project from Aarey to the land in Kanjurmarg but now finds itself in court after the Union government, through the salt commissioner, dragged it to court, claiming the land belonged to the Centre.
