MAJORITY State-owned telecommunications provider, TSTT, is undertaking a âlimited deploymentâ of 5G at the Phoenix Park Industrial Estate in central Trinidad, but is not yet ready to roll out mobile 5G nationally, according to the local telecommunication providerâs chief executive, Lisa Agard.
In her first major interview since her acting appointment as CEO effective October 1, 2020, following the resignation of Ronald Walcot, Agard said the 5G deployment at the Phoenix Park Industrial Estate is part of the 145-acre siteâs development, which is being touted as one of Chinaâs first Belt and Road initiatives in the Caribbean.
TSTTâs chief financial officer, Shiva Ramnarine and its general manager of shared services, Gerard Cooper, were part of the interview with Agard.

Manning is the son of the late former prime minister Patrick Manning and former education minister Hazel Manning.
Manning (B) first entered political life this year, having won the San Fernando East seat, which his father represented for decades, in the August general election.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley appointed Manning as Minister in the Ministry of Finance on August 19.
According to news.gov.tt, Manning is a former Small, Medium Enterprise Financing Officer at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington, DC, where he was handling funding for SME’s in Central America and the Caribbean.
