IDEX 2021: Deals worth Dh2 billion inked on Day 4 of Abu Dhabi exhibition

The UAE Armed Forces on Wednesday announced signing 24 new deals worth Dh2 billion at the ongoing defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The total value of deals closed by the end of the fourth day of the International Defence Exhibition (Idex) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (Navdex) now stands at Dh20 billion.
“A total amount of Dh2,140,444,063 worth of deals were awarded. Local companies accounted for 66 per cent and international companies 34 per cent of the total value of the deals,” Al Hassani said during a Press conference. The defence exhibition will run until Thursday.

Two UAE-based health companies have partnered with Canada’s Laipac Technology to launch the “world’s first” artificial intelligence (AI)-powered rapid COVID-19 antigen test.
YAS Pharmaceuticals and Pure Health will be working with the Ontario-based Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) specialist to provide an “intelligent and innovative way to deploy technologies to better protect the health of people across the region,” Laipac announced in a statement.
Currently being showcased at the 2021 International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, the LooK SPOT features a lateral flow immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of nucleocapsid protein from SARS-CoV-2 in nasal swabs. The cassette is then connected to a smartphone in order for a special application to scan for signs of COVID-19.

The UAE Armed Forces announced signing 12 deals worth Dh5.6 billion with local and international companies on the third day of the International Defence Exhibition (Idex) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX). The total value of deals signed till date now stands at Dh17.9 billion.
Staff Brigadier-General Mohammed Al Hassani, official spokesperson for Idex and Navdex, noted that both the local and international companies were awarded six deals each. Abu Dhabi-based Yas Holding grabbed the spotlight with a contract worth nearly Dh3 billion.
