Belarus defense minister to attend CSTO Defense Ministers Council session

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin will take part in a session of the Defense Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) due in Dushanbe on 27 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
Taking part in the session will be the defense ministers of the CSTO member states and CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas. The participants will discuss military issues, exchange opinions on challenges and threats to military security of the CSTO member states and appropriate response measures.
The CSTO defense ministers are expected to adopt decisions aimed at working out common approaches and mechanisms in advancing military cooperation in the CSTO.

CSTO mulls over institute of special representative for peacekeeping
MOSCOW, 9 March (BelTA) – An institute a special representative of the CSTO secretary general for peacekeeping may be set up at the CSTO, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA following a meeting of CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas and Kazakhstan s Defense Minister Nurlan Yermekbayev in Nur Sultan on 9 March.
The parties discussed the joint operational and combat training activities in 2021 and a plan to provide the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Force with necessary equipment. “The parties paid special attention to improving the level of training of the CSTO peacekeeping forces and providing them with modern weapons, military and special hardware, special means taking into account the possible involvement of CSTO peacekeeping forces in UN peacekeeping operations via a coordinating state - one of the CSTO member states,” Vladimir Zainetdinov said. “Thus, the CSTO peacekeeping force comprises a
