Quick action by Prasarana, Dr Wee good, but investigation in LRT collision must be transparent

PETALING JAYA: The quick action of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd and Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong on the LRT Kelana Jaya line train collision should be commended but any investigation into the incident must be conducted transparently, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye. The Alliance for Safe Community chairman expressed his sorrow that the LRT s safety record of more than 20 years had been broken by the train accident that caused injuries on Monday (May 24). However, Lee said Prasarana, which operates the rail service, had to be commended for quickly resuming services between the affected stations in Kampung Baru and KLCC while Dr Wee should also be complimented for his leadership by visiting the accident site to assess the damage.

Self-imposed lockdown a patriotic act, says Lee Lam Thye

PETALING JAYA: As Covid-19 figures surged over the weekend, social activist Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pic) says it is the patriotic responsibility of every Malaysian to start a self-imposed lockdown in order to bring down the curve of infection. The Alliance For Safe Community chairman said the current Covid-19 pandemic situation is at a critical stage at present, as cases are surging past 6,000 a day. The time has come for every Malaysian to exercise self-lockdown. If you are patriotic, then lock yourself down for two weeks. Go out only when it s necessary, such as to the clinics or to get food, he said.
