The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday three new deaths and 1,537 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,705 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
As Los Angeles County sees more than a seven-times increase in new cases since the June 15 reopening, the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order will be modified to require masking for everyone while indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
To date, Public Health identified 1,262,578 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,566 deaths. Of the three new deaths reported Thursday, one person that passed away was over the age of 80, and two people who passed were between the ages of 50 and 64. Testing results are available for more than 7,142,000 individuals with 16% of people testing positive. There are 406 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 22% of these people are in the ICU.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Wednesday nine new deaths and 1,315 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,658 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To date, Public Health identified 1,261,068 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,563 deaths. This is the sixth consecutive day where more than 1,000 new cases have been reported. Of the nine new deaths reported today, three people that passed away were over the age of 80, two people who passed were between the ages of 65 and 79, one person who passed was between the ages of 50 and 64, and three people who passed were between the ages of 30 and 49.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Tuesday 12 new deaths and 1,103 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,613 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
One month ago, on June 13, the 5-day average of cases was 201 and today the 5-day average is 1,095; this is an increase of more than 500% in just one month.
The test positivity rate has increased nearly 700% from the 0.5% seen a month ago; Tuesday’s test positivity rate is 3.4%.
To date, Public Health identified 1,259,772 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,554 deaths. Of the 12 new deaths reported Tuesday, six people that passed away were over the age of 80, four people who passed were between the ages of 65 and 79, and one person who passed was between the ages of 50 and 64. The state recently said that it’s moving from the Blueprint for a Safer Economy guideline and reopening businesses to pre-COVID-19 operations.
Individuals who have been fully vaccinated will be allowed to be without masks in public. Only indoor activities, with more than 5,000 people in attendance, will require verification of vaccination status, a pre-entry negative COVID-19 test or masks.
Masks will still be required in public enterprises such as public transit and health care facilities.

For the second consecutive week, Los Angeles is experiencing a rise in new COVID-19 cases. This increase marks the largest number of cases since the beginning of this year. Furthermore, the number of Delta variant cases sit at 71 percent, making it the leading variant in Los Angeles currently.
In Los Angeles there have been 1,107 new COVID-19 cases, with 320 people are currently hospitalized. There have been five additional deaths, bringing Los Angeles total to 24,530. In a June 30 report, Los Angeles County reported 422 new cases, which was double the amount reported on June 15.
