Ex-Fata students end protest after talk with governor

National April 5, 2021 LAHORE: A number of ex-Fata students who had been staging a protest sit-in outside Governor House for the last 16 days demanding restoration of scholarships at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) called off their sit-in after successful negotiation with Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar and Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi on Sunday. Meanwhile, Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar, who is also chancellor of public sector universities of the province, announced scholarships for 1,000 students annually including 200 girls from Fata, and also announced setting up Punjab University sub-campus in Fata and Government College University, Lahore sub-campus in Gilgit. Students of Islamia University Bahawalpur belonging to ex-Fata held talks with Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar at Governor House Lahore on Sunday regarding their demands. Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi, MPA from FATA Naseer Ahmed were present on the occasion.

KAJK holds self defence camp for women KAJK holds self defence camp for women Excelsior Sports Correspondent JAMMU, Mar 17: Kickboxing Association J&K (KAJK) conducted one day women self defence and physical fitness programme at Indoor stadium Bhagwati Nagar, here today. About 100 women participated in this event. The event was conducted by joint secretary Irfan (Sher-e-Kashmir Awardee) and Danish Padha, technical director, whereas Jagpreet Kour, coach was also present during the camp. Trainer Sahil Sambyal delivered lecture on the technique of self defence while self defence trainer, Naresh Chander take theoretical and practical session of self defence. Municipal Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa graced the closing ceremony as chief guest, whereas Gourav Chopra was guest of honour. They congratulate all the participants and praise the Association for conducting self defence session for women and Dawood Iqbal Director Sports Jammu University was also present during the event.
