Patricia Carter named secretary of Pott. County Election Board

Maud High School graduate, mother and grandmother Patricia Carter was appointed the secretary of the Pottawatomie County Election Board April 1.
Carter said she is honored to be given the title and looks forward to fulfilling her duties. It is my mission to administer elections to Pottawatomie County voters impartially in accordance to state and federal law, while efficiently reporting election results with maximum accuracy, Carter said.
She explained as secretary she plans to focus on voter outreach and education. With false and misinformation being sowed throughout the voting population, it is my goal to put to rest to some of these myths so that Pottawatomie County voters feel secure and confident in Oklahoma’s uniform election system, Carter said.

The Pottawatomie County Election Board will move offices and open in its new location in the former MidFirst Bank building at 330 N. Broadway in downtown Shawnee on Tuesday, April 20.
According to Patricia Carter, secretary of the County Election Board, the current offices on Acme Road will close at 5 p.m. Friday, April 16, to begin the moving process.
The Election Board s phone number will still be (405) 273-8376 and response times may be impacted by the move, she said, but call and emails will be returned as soon as possible.
Carter said the move to the downtown Shawnee building will greatly benefit the Election Board as the location has amenities that will help the office function more efficiently.
Absentee ballot applications available for 2021 election year

Voters in Pottawatomie County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for elections in 2021 should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Patricia Carter said.
Any registered voter may request absentee ballots for a specific election or for a full calendar year. No excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot. Carter said there are many ways to apply.
“For many voters, the easiest way to apply is online through the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal. Voters can also fill out an application at the County Election Board or simply write us a letter.”

Bradford Jay ‘Brad’ Lake
HAMPSTEAD Bradford Jay “Brad” Lake was born Feb. 10, 1983, and tragically died in the early hours of Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021. He was 37 years young.

Brad was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. He had also resided in Arizona, Tennessee, California, and for the past several years had called Hampstead home.
Brad graduated high school from Marshall High School, Michigan, and later graduated from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, Phoenix, Arizona. He wasted no time putting his training to use in the motorcycle industry, later turning his attention to servicing boats through his own mobile boat repair business currently known as Offs
