The Mayor of London’s year-long Let’s Do London campaign to bring people back to the capital kicks off its focus on the city’s diverse food and drink offering today with London Eats.
London Eats celebrates the very best culinary delights central London has to offer. From cheap street food eats to fine dining, food markets to drinks festivals, exclusive interviews, food trails, surprise tannoy announcements on the Tube and the unveiling of new restaurant and street food market openings – there is something for everyone.
As Covid restrictions ease, with the government continuing with the roadmap but asking the public to be mindful of the ongoing pressures of the virus and the new strains, and as more restaurants open up, the Mayor Sadiq Khan will this morning be joined by celebrity chefs and successful restaurateurs, Monica Galetti and Angela Hartnett MBE at Geoff Leong’s Chinatown restaurant Dumplings’ Legend, to launch this food-focused part of his Le
Stan Ennor-Glynn, head of international residential sales in the Middle East department of property consultancy Savills, said the news was a blow for the market, which was expecting a summer of unleashed pent-up demand after a year of restrictions.
“A month ago, we thought flights were going to open up, everyone would be able to travel to the UK and we were going to have a real run of deals,” Mr Ennor-Glynn told
The National.
“There is so much pent-up demand in the Middle East and the fact that people have not been able to travel has had a real impact on the amount of deals we have been able to do. We will not see the run we were expecting until everything opens up.”
Northern Line extension fuels property boom as Kennington becomes Zone 1/2: House prices rise along new London Tube route to Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms that opens in Autumn 2021
Transport for London (TfL) today announced that Kennington is changing from a Zone 2 to a Zone 1/2 station
The fare zone change means customers going to and from central London will only pay a Zone 1 fare
Those travelling between Kennington and city centre will also see their pay-as-you-go fare reduced to £2.40
Savills said move is likely to cause house prices in Kennington to rise as demand for homes in area increase
Data shows that the average house price in Kennington between 2010-20 has risen from £381,751 to £581,007

Three-tower development replaces former proposal by Grimshaw
Assael has cleared a planning hurdle for a £144m three-tower scheme above the new Nine Elms tube station five years after a similar Grimshaw-designed proposal on the site was approved.
Lambeth council planning committee voted unanimously earlier this month to approve the 479-home over-station development for Connected Living London (CLL) subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement.
The application is now due to head to the GLA for final sign-off.
It will almost entirely replace Grimshaw’s aborted 332-home scheme for the site, which was given the go-ahead in March 2016.
