Kia recently announced an update to its Plan S business strategy during its CEO Investor Day event on February 9, 2021, with company president and CEO Ho Sung Song on hand to provide the details.
“Kia is being reborn in 2021 with a new logo, new design, and new corporate name. Kia will transform into a brand that excites and inspires customers with innovative mobility experiences,” said Song.
The main highlight here is electrification, with Kia planning to have 11 new EVs in its line-up by 2026 – a year earlier than previously announced. From that figure, seven will be built on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) architecture, while the remaining four are based on existing internal combustion engine derivatives.
US-based electric vehicles (EV) giant Triton, which competes with Rivian, Tesla and other luxury EV makers, is looking to launch its N4 electric sedan in India. The electric car is said to be more economical than Tesla’s most affordable option Model 3. It will have four different variants and high-performance limited edition in the country.
“The base model will be priced at Rs 35 Lakh thus, showing the amount of market research that has been put by the company to cater the requirements of the Indian market. As we are heading towards a new era of commitment towards our environment, EVs are going to make a definitive contribution in building a future-ready society. We aim to make our sincere contribution towards ensuring a future-ready society with environmentally friendly clean energy practices,” the company said.
Vertu Motors is set to relocate its Kia Nottingham dealership into its existing Volkswagen dealership operation in the city as it continues to consolidate its UK retail operations.
