The Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that it is canceling the final two scheduled dates in its Friday Night Live music series due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chamber made the announcement Tuesday afternoon on social media.
Friday Night Live features popular local bands performing for free on the Farmers and Merchants Bank Stage at Hickory Park.
Shows being canceled include The Nick Reed Band on Aug. 13 and a show on Aug. 27 that had yet to have a headlining act announced.
In its announcement posted on Facebook, the Chamber writes, “Please know that we did not make this decision lightly. With some of our crew members out with COVID and the hospital overcrowding that is taking place in our region, we are choosing to do what we believe is best for our community and our volunteers. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) â Arkansas reported more than 2,000 new coronavirus cases Tuesday and its hospitalizations surpassed 1,000 as Gov. Asa Hutchinson said he was considering calling lawmakers back to the Capitol to revisit the state s ban on schools requiring face masks.
The state Department of Health reported virus cases rose by 2,052 to 378,023 total since the pandemic began, and the number of people in the hospital due to COVID-19 grew by 45 to 1,025. The state reported 10 new COVID-19 deaths.
The hospitalizations were the state s highest since Jan. 27. The state reported 387 COVID-19 patients in intensive care and 205 on ventilators. Only 3% of the state s intensive care unit beds and 20% of its hospital beds are available.
