ISLAMABAD: Barrister Ali Zafar brushed aside the rumours that he had submitted the final report on cases related to former PTI secretary-general Jahangir Khan Tareen.
Last month, Prime Minister Imran Khan assigned Zafar the task to ascertain the facts after a group of pro-Tareen lawmakers alleged that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was victimising the former party secretary-general in the sugar scam.

ISLAMABAD, (Dunya News) - Senator Barrister Ali Zafar on Thursday said according to the law, Hudaibiya Papers Mills case could be re-investigated, Dunya News reported.
Barrister Ali Zafar while talking to reporters outside the Supreme Court building after long consultation with Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan and Prime Minister s Accountability Adviser Shahzad Akbar, said that no trial was held in the Hudaibiya Papers Mills case, and it would be re-filed if something concrete evidence came to light.

There is a growing debate that the discretionary powers of the Chief Justice of Pakistan should be structured and regulated to ensure more transparency in the affairs of the Supreme Court. The CJP currently enjoys unfettered discretionary powers to constitute benches, ‘fix’ cases and initiate public interest proceedings under Article 184 (3) of the constitution. Likewise, being Chairman Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) as well as Supreme Judicial Council, the CJP has vast discretionary of the powers in the process regarding judges appointments and their removal under Article 209 of constitution.
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) on Friday expressed serious concern and reservations over proposed amendments to the Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism (AML-CFT) Regulations for Lawyers and other independent Legal Professions (DNFBPs), 2021, and Oversight Body Regulations for Self-Regulatory Body (SRB) of Lawyers (DNFBPS), 2021.
The laws require legal professionals to disclose certain information which, the PBC considers, are patently against the Constitution and the substantive law. The communication between the client and counsel could not be breached directly or indirectly, said an announcement issued after the 233rd meeting of the council.
Presided over by PBC vice chairman Khushdil Khan, the meeting was held here at the Supreme Court building.
