Prime Minister Imran Khan promised harsh actions against his ministers if any one found involved in corruption, saying that he would approach the chief justice of Pakistan for setting up a special court for their trial on a daily basis.
In an interview with a private news channel, Imran dubbed himself “the prime minister of the common man” and stressed that all other questions about his government would be irrelevant and just one question would be asked after five years whether he improved lives of the people.

ISLAMABAD: Transaction structure of Pakistan Steel Mills’ (PSM) revival plan has been presented before the cabinet committee on privatisation for the final approval, officials said on Wednesday.
The transaction structure was already approved by privatisation commission board, the officials told Minister for Privatisation Mohammedmian Soomro during a meeting. Secretary privatisation and other senior officials of the ministry and privatisation commission attended the meeting.
“The government is earnestly working for the revival of PSMC, through the induction of capital and technology, thus bringing the entity to operate at its full production capacity,” Soomro said.

LAHORE: Uptick in exports is based on subsidised power and gas, which shows that instead of reducing cost of doing business by improving public sector inefficiencies, the government is booting the additional bill of the already bleeding power sector.
The cost of imported RLNG is much higher (30-40 percent higher) than the rate at which the gas is supplied to the exporters. This is a fire fighting measure and the sustainability of exports is subject to continuity of these subsidies.
It goes without saying that subsidies undermine the competitive process as they interfere with market signals and where provided on inputs lead to inefficient allocations as perceived prices deviate from cost-based prices.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China has initiated consultation on the ‘framework agreement’ for industrial cooperation to develop B2B joint ventures, realise Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and industrialisation under the second phase of CPEC, officials said on Tuesday.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan has already given approval to it. After consultation, both the countries will formally sign this framework agreement,” a senior official said.
On Tuesday, representatives from both the countries held the fifth meeting of Joint Working Group (JWG) on industrial cooperation under CPEC through video conference.

Joint Working Group on CPEC Agrees on Framework Agreement on Industrial Cooperation
The 5th meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Industrial Cooperation (IC) under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was held via video conference regarding the Framework Agreement on CPEC Industrial Cooperation (IC).
It was co-chaired by Additional Secretary and Executive Director General of Board of Investment (BOI), Khashih-ur-Rehman, and Director General of National Development & Reform Commission (NDRC), People’s Republic of China, Ying Xiong.
Officials from line ministries, provincial governments, and embassies also attended the meeting.
