The Pakistan Army on Friday said that the country restored the balance of power in the region on this day more than two decades ago by carrying out nuclear tests in response to India s Pokhran tests and establishing a credible minimum nuclear deterrence .
Both the Army and Foreign Office issued statements to mark the 23rd anniversary of the May 28, 1998 nuclear tests by Pakistan, codenamed Yaum-e-Takbeer (The day of greatness).

India, Pak Army exchange sweets at Poonch-Rawlakote Crossing Point on Eid
JAMMU: Indian Army and Pakistan Army on Thursday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on the Line of Control (LoC) at Poonch-Rawalakot Crossing Point and Mendhar-Hotspring Crossing Point in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sweets and compliments were exchanged by the representatives of both the Armies in an atmosphere of bonhomie and festivities.
The ceremony is seen as a confidence building measures in the backdrop of recently agreed ceasefire between both the countries.
The gesture was appreciated by both the armies and expected to promote good will and mutual trust. (Agency)

Pakistan receives 1.23m doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine

ISLAMABAD:
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Saturday said Pakistan has received about 1.23 million doses of AstraZeneca s Covid-19 vaccine today which were procured under the COVAX programme.
It further added that out of the 3.5 million Sinovac Covid-19 jabs, one million would reach Pakistan on May 9 whereas another consignment of a million doses would reach the country between May 13-15. The remaining 1.5 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine were expected to reach the country by end of May.
