Maersk starts new service linking ports in Vietnam and China with the US East Coast via the Panama Canal
Maersk Inc. North America has announced the start of a new service linking ports in Vietnam and China with the US East Coast via the Panama Canal, starting in May 2021, according to the company s release.
The TP23 string will include eight Maersk vessels and two from ZIM. The rotation is intended to be Vung Tau, Vietnam/Yantian, South China/Panama Canal /Savannah /Charleston/Newark, while due to congestion in Savannah, the rotation will initially and until further notice swap the U.S. calls to go Charleston/Savannah/Newark.

The organizing board of Miss World Vietnam 2021 has made an allowance in the biennial beauty pageant’s regulations for women who have undergone plastic surgery to participate in the contest.
The new allowance, based on a government decree, was introduced at the competition’s press conference in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.
This is the second iteration of Miss World Vietnam – a pageant held to select a Vietnamese representative for the Miss World competition and other international beauty contests.

A Bamboo Airways flight bound for Con Dao Islands off the southern province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau from northern Hai Phong City had to make an emergency landing in Hanoi after hitting a bird in the air on Wednesday.
Flight QH 1055, operated by the Vietnamese hybrid airline using the Embraer 195 jet, made a request to the command station at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi to prioritize its landing at 1:04 pm on the same day as the captain believed that the plane had hit a bird.
Zim, Maersk and MSC start US East Coast service
Capacity constraints on the Pacific trade routes as well as Southern California’s ports at Los Angeles and Long Beach have resulted in substantial cargo delays. The latest service from Maersk - in partnership with Zim and MSC - is aimed at circumventing these constraints by heading to the US East Coast via the Panama Canal.
Starting in May this year, the Danish and Israeli operators will deploy ten ships -eight vessels from Maersk and two from Zim - all of around 6,500TEU to the service. MSC will be a non-vessel operating partner. The joint service is labelled the TP23; it will operate from Vietnam and China heading to the US East Coast.
