IPMAN lauds DPR for introducing transformational innovations

The Chairman of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Kano branch, Alhaji Bashir Ahmad Danmallam, has commended the Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Engr. Sarki Auwalu, for his stakeholder engagement with marketers in a bid to foster a strong working relationship with independent marketers.
The IPMAN chairman made the commendation while briefing newsmen shortly after a meeting with members of the association in Kano on Thursday.
The IPMAN Chairman also lauded Engr. Sarki for the introduction of transformational innovations in the DPR in the areas of digitisation and automation which are geared towards ensuring ease of doing business with the agency.

A vigilante officer, identified as Musa Sa’id arrested by operatives of police in Kano has confessed that he engaged in phone snatching because he was broke.
He made the confession when he was paraded alongside three others of his accomplice at the Bompai police headquarters in Kano.
Sa’id and his accomplice specialize in snatching mobile phones from unsuspecting passengers inside tricycle popularly known as Keke Napep.
The vigilante officer, said “I am prompted to engage in the phone snatching because I am broke.
“I therefore connived with these three guys to snatch phone and sell it to get money. I took the weapons (knives) in our office to use in the operation.

Fire, road accidents claim 12 lives in Kano

Not fewer than 12 persons were reportedly said to have lost their lives to fire outbreak, road accidents and other mishaps in Kano State.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson, Kano Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi said the incidence leading to fatality was recorded within the period of one month, April 2021.
Abdullahi also said properties worth N17.6 million were destroyed in the incidence.
According to him, “We received emergency calls from our twenty-seven fire stations across the State in the month (April) under review.
“We received a total of 94 fire incidence calls, 73 rescue calls and 14 false calls.

Kano Hisbah sacks top official found in hotel room with married woman

The Kano State Hisbah Board has on Tuesday sacked a top official allegedly found with a married woman in a hotel room in the Sabon Gari area of the state.
Recall that sometime early this year, the official was allegedly found in a questionable manner with the married woman.
The Hisbah Public Relations Officer, Lawal Fagge confirmed the sacking of the official to Vanguard.
It was gathered that the decision followed a report by a committee set up by the board to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. Before the incident, the official was said to be at the forefront of arresting prostitutes and other wayward girls.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has admonished journalists to be resolute towards upholding accuracy, objectivity, and professional ethics while discharging their duty in order to deepen good governance and not to heat up the polity.
Ganduje gave the charge on the occasion of the United Nation’s World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on May 3, every year.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, the governor noted that as stakeholders, journalists should exercise their profession within the realm of law and journalism profession.
Ganduje further observed that at this critical period when Nigeria is facing myriads of challenges, the media should always be mindful of the laws guiding the conduct of their constituted responsibilities in their reportage.
