The Punjab Assembly on Monday approved three-month extension for five ordinances despite protest by the opposition.
Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja moved a motion to extend the period of the ordinances remaining in effect, which was passed by a majority vote. He extension of the Sugar Factories Control Amendmen Ordinance 2012, Sugar Factories Control Second Amendment Ordinance 2012, Punjab Local Government Amendment Ordinance 2012, Profits of Companies (Workers Contribution) Amendment Ordinance 2020 and Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Amendment Ordinance 2020 was approved.

Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Cooperatives Muhammad Basharat Raja has said that the government-owned land would be recovered from the land mafia and strict legal action would be taken against the land grabbers and their accomplices.
The minister expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at the office of Punjab Cooperative Board for Liquidation (PCBL) on Friday. The meeting reviewed performance and problems of the PCLB, wherein Board Chairman Tariq Mahmood Javed and other officers briefed the provincial minister.

LAHORE: Soon after the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM)’s public meeting at Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday, Prime Minister Imran Khan lambasted the joint opposition for “endangering people’s lives during Covid-19 spike” and reiterated that he would not give an NRO to the opposition leaders.
“Let me once again reiterate: I will never give an NRO. Whatever future plans of further blackmail PDM may have, my message is categorical: There will never be an NRO from my govt no matter what tactics the looters devise,” the prime minister said in a tweet.
