Surprise release on All4 tonight
Simon Bird has unveiled his debut stand-up TV special, without ever having performed it in front of an audience.
The surprise release – entitled Debrief – has just landed on Channel 4’s streaming service All 4.
It was recorded last month at the Boulevard Theatre in London with Bird facing empty seats and eerie silences.
In it, he even asks: ‘Can you even really call yourself a stand-up comedian if you’ve never heard a single person laugh?’
Over 45 minutes, the Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner star addresses topics such as nationalism, sexism, the environment, and the NHS as he looks at the decade leading up to the coronavirus pandemic.

Imagine MKEannounced the recipients of $700,000 in CARES Act funding for arts and culture organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Imagine MKE, an advocacy organization for the region’s arts sector, received applications for 82 organizations, receiving documentation of over $30 million in losses or expenses incurred because of the COVID-19 pandemic and over $4.4 million in aid requests.
“The need from the culture and arts sector far out paces both the present and projected resources available to support them,” said county executive David Crowley. “The millions in documented losses underscore how the downsizing of this sector of our economy could have far-reaching, long-term effects if not addressed immediately.”
