Within a week, the number of Covid cases reported in the district has again crossed the 700-mark. As many as 733 persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. Out of the total number of infections reported on Tuesday, 74 persons belonged to other districts.
With eight more deaths today, the death toll has reached 1,113 in the district.
In the last four days, 2,721 people got infected and 31 persons succumbed to the deadly virus. While, the total number of confirmed cases stands at 45,638, there are 4,921 active cases in the district.
Six die in Hoshiarpur district
The district reported six more Covid-19 fatalities on Tuesday, taking the death toll to 755, while 186 fresh cases pushed the infection tally to 21,314. Giving information, Civil Surgeon Dr Ranjit Singh said the number of active cases in the district stood at 1,842 and 18,717 patients had recovered from the virus.
State rejects Religion-Led Politics

Counting begins for Bengal Assembly elections amid tight security

Kolkata: The counting of votes in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, which began at 8 am on Sunday, began under strict security and strict observance of security protocols, with the second wave of COVID-19.
The exit poll has predicted a tough fight between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP in the eight-phase elections in the 294-member assembly.
The counting of votes will decide the electoral fate of 2,116 candidates, including candidates from the Left-Congress-Indian Secular Front coalition.
The exercise is being carried out at 108 counting centers spread across 23 districts of the state, where three-tier security arrangements have been made.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee cast her vote at a polling station in Bhawanipore in Kolkata on Monday during the seventh phase of the state assembly elections. He signaled victory after casting a vote.
The seventh phase is being held in 34 constituencies spread over five districts.
Over 81.88 lakh voters including 39.87 lakh women and 221 third gender persons are eligible to cast their votes at 11,376 polling stations in this phase. A total of 268 candidates are in the fray.
